CityU Students Completed National University of Singapore Summer Program

Four students from City University of Macau marked the end of their second year in the International Business Cohort program by spending a month at the National University of Singapore (NUS), enrolled in the FASSTrack Asia summer school program organized by the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences. Ms. Wang Peilin, Ms. Long Sitian, Ms. Li Qingnan, and Mr. Louis Ye Jiehui, were all enrolled in the module“Economic History of Southeast Asia," offered by the Department of Economics.

The National University of Singapore is currently ranked 22nd in the world and the best in Asia. Its Department of Economics is ranked sixteenth in the world. The four City University students found their stay there sometimes challenging but overall, stimulating and extremely enjoyable. Their module gave them opportunities to work closely on projects with other students from Singapore, the United States, and elsewhere in the world, from a range of different cultures, which broadened their horizons. The programme was demanding but rewarding.

In their free time, the students were also taken on tours of several major Singapore tourist attractions and cultural sites, including the zoo and bird park, and the world’s first auto-rider. Singapore classmates also invited them to their homes.

The students greatly appreciated the high quality of the NUS facilities, including their dormitory accommodation, the range of reasonably priced food from across Asia in the student canteen, the excellence of the library, and the top-class sports and athletic facilities.

For all four students, this summer school expanded their horizons, both academic and cultural, and gave them valuable opportunities to meet many new international friends from different backgrounds.
